About

Call me Jen. I’m the storyteller behind Wild Grit Adventures, a proud Fort Worthian, and coffee addict. I grew up in two very different worlds; one in a suburb of San Jose, Costa Rica, and the other in a small suburb of Dallas, Texas. Growing up in Costa Rica allowed me to develop a deep love of the outdoors at a young age and I had unforgettable experiences there exploring rainforests, peering into the mouths of volcanoes, climbing mountains, spending full days on beaches, being guided through rivers, and riding horseback to hidden waterfalls.

Though I can’t always find that same kind of adventure in Texas, I remain as avid a backpacker, car camper, climber, kayaker, and day hiker as time allows while also having a family. Sometimes my family adventures with me and other times I set out on my own or with good friends. I love to explore just about anywhere but my favorite places by far are in the southwestern deserts of the Unites States.

When I’m not spending time outside or planning the next adventure, I work for REI and homeschool our daughter. Outfitting others for their adventures brings me a lot of joy and fulfillment and is largely what motivated me to create this site. My goal for this space is simple; to inspire you to get outside in whatever ways you can. More than that, I aim to create a space that empowers more young girls and women to recreate outdoors confidently.

I hope the stories and guides you’ll read here will inspire you to get outside and live out wild and gritty adventures of your own. And when you’re ready to take a class, visit the events page to see what’s on the calendar. I can’t wait to meet you and swap stories!

Warmly,

Jen
